Monte Paterno, Torre di Toblin, Strada degli Alpini, Cengia Gabriella/Roghel are gem for those who like the railroad or the story (on the trail of the dolomite front of 1915-1918). The newest creation not to be missed is the new railroad which crosses the south face of the Croda dei Toni, connecting Pian di Cengia with Carducci shelter. This route replaces the old path nr. 107, which is no longer viable. With a proper preparation, many of these routes are feasible in a day starting from our shelter.
The railroad kit is indispensable!

The short railroad:

(Ferrata degli Alpini 1915 – 1918): Short and easy railroad (about 40 min.) with a splendid view. The starting point is at 10 minutes from the shelter, on Passo Fiscalino. It is suitable to practise or as a small excursion to complete the day, or as a passage to the Forcella Croda dei Toni. From here, you can choose whether to move towards the Strada degli Alpini or towards the new railroad on the south face of the Croda dei Toni.

The climbing gym:

Next to the shelter there are two small top rope gyms (3 – 6 UIAA), pathways length 7 m and 40 m, in addition opportunities to practise in boulder (up to 7a fb) and a quick tour on the Alps (8 UIAA, 3 SL)

Alpine climbing:

Cima Dodici (Croda dei Toni), Cima Uno, Monte Paterno, Tre Cime, etc. Within the walls of these mountains was written the history of climbing. Many of these climbing now have become classics, the dream of every mountaineer (manuals: Dolomiti Orientali, Volume 1, parte seconda di Antonio Berti).

On the trail of Innerkofler, Schranzhofer, etc. Daniel Rogger, grown up at Pian di Cengia, continues the great tradition of Sesto guides and can show you the most beautiful historical routes.
